  1. Type the first name of your ancestor in the First Names box and the last name of your ancestor in the Last Names box.

  2. Click the Residence link below the search boxes.

  3. Type the name of the county and the state abbreviation (e.g., "Mercer County, OH" "Orange County, NC") in the Residence Place box.
    NOTE: You may search on just a state rather than both a county and state.

  4. Click the Search button.

  5. Review your results. Twenty results are displayed at a time.

  6. Click a result of interest.

  7. After viewing the first 20 results, scroll to the bottom and click "2" to review the next set of 20 results.

  8. You may either go back to the main search page and start the new search, OR you can refine your search in the left-hand column of the results page.

  9. Remove the place of residence.

  10. Click on Parents under Search by Relationships.

  11. Type the father's first name in the Father's First Names box.

  12. Type the mother's first name in the Mother's First Names box.

  13. Click the Search button.

  14. Review your results.

  15. Click a result of interest.

  16. You may either go back to the main search page and start the new search, OR you can refine your search in the left-hand column of the results page.

  17. Remove the parents' first names.

  18. Click on Spouse under Search by Relationships.

  19. Type the wife's first name in the Spouse's First Names box.

  20. Type the wife's MAIDEN name in the Spouse's Last Names box.

  21. Click the Search button.

  22. To specify an exact match for the spelling of either the first name or the last name or both names, click the small check box next to the name so that a check mark appears in the box.

  23. To choose a range of years for a life event, first remove other search terms such as wife's names or parents' names.

  24. Click a life event of interest (i.e., birth, marriage, residence, or death).

  25. Enter a range of years to search.

  26. Click the Search button.

  27. Indicate a location (e.g., county and state or just state) for the life event.

  28. Click the Search button.
